Course Overview

The WAE200 Electrical Nominee Course is designed for WA electricians who need to understand the operational, technical and statutory responsibilities associated with acting as an electrical nominee in Western Australia.

This electrical contractor training program focuses on practical application, including how legislative obligations, WA electrical requirements, Australian Standards, safety systems, supervision, inspection, testing and certification apply to day-to-day electrical work.

Participants work through the requirements expected of an electrical nominee, including how to identify relevant obligations, apply them to business procedures, supervise electrical work, verify compliance, and respond appropriately where work does not meet the required standard.

This course is suitable for WA unrestricted electrical licence holders who are seeking to complete WAE200 Electrical Operational Requirements as part of the nominee training pathway for an Electrical Contractor’s Licence or an In-House Electrical Installing Work Licence, or who need a stronger working knowledge of WA electrical operational requirements.

Course Outcomes

Certificate of Completion issued to successful participants.

On successful completion, participants should be able to apply WA electrical operational requirements across the key areas expected of an electrical nominee, including: • identifying WA legislation, regulations and regulatory publications relevant to electrical operations;
• interpreting the intent of legislative requirements and applying them to electrical business procedures;
• applying current Australian Standards and WA technical requirements to low-voltage installation work;
• understanding statutory duties, responsibilities and expectations for electrical personnel;
• applying inspection, testing, verification and commissioning procedures for electrical installations;
• checking and testing electrical appliances and equipment where relevant to the work scope;
• applying safe working, supervision and reporting procedures in electrical work environments;
• recognising the documentation expectations for notices, certificates, records, defects and non-compliant work.

Entry Requirements

Important entry requirement: Participants must hold a current unrestricted Western Australian electrical worker’s licence endorsed as an electrician’s licence before enrolling in WAE200. Participants should also have the language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills required to interpret legislation, standards, forms, technical documentation and written assessment material.
