This course is open to anyone looking to develop knowledge in High Voltage Switching. However, some units of competency can only be awarded if specific prerequisites are met.

Participants who hold a UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or a current Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence (or equivalent issued in Australia or New Zealand) will be eligible to receive 14 units of competency upon successful completion.

Those who do not meet these prerequisites will be awarded 8 units of competency.

Eligibility

Participant’s must:

  • have the right to work in Australia and
  • be an eligible worker or
  • be an unemployed eligible worker in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry and
  • must meet all program eligibility requirements as per the relevant program schedule.

Who is an eligible worker?

An eligible worker is someone who is an employee or Self-employed worker, who can demonstrate primary and substantial direct involvement in the:

  • Queensland Building and Construction Industry doing:
    • construction, significant renovations and extensions of, residential and commercial buildings
    • installation services for interiors of residential and commercial buildings in associated trades; electrical, plumbing, flooring etc.
    • works on a major infrastructure project
  • the Queensland Civil Construction industry doing:
    • land development and site preparation for the purpose of construction
    • works for civil infrastructure
    • works on a major infrastructure project

Who are Construction Skills Queensland?

Construction Skills Queensland is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry. CSQ provides funding to reduce the financial obstacle to training, making upskilling an affordable option for many more individuals in the construction industry. CSQ-funded training is delivered by a range of selected registered training organisations (RTOs) across Queensland.

Western Australia

Individuals in WA may be eligible to claim a Construction Training Fund (CTF) subsidy for the High Voltage Switching Operation course through a refund arrangement.

The subsidy may be available via submission of a paid invoice and statement of attainment, submitted directly to the CTF.

Companies may be eligible to claim the CTF subsidy for their employees if they are captured in the CTF levy scheme.

The Constructions Training Fund provides funding support for training eligible workers in the construction industry.

We acknowledge the support of the Construction Training Fund in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.
